Meeting at the fountain
The group gathers at the Fontana del Nettuno in Piazza del Nettuno, the small square beside Piazza Maggiore. Your voucher shows the start time for your date, so arrive a few minutes early.
The first bite
The walk opens with tigella, a thin round bread of the Emilian Apennines, served as a pre-aperitivo. From there the guide leads you through the central market and its artisan shops.
Cold cuts and cheese
Expect mortadella among the cold cuts, Parmigiano Reggiano with a balsamic aged 25 years, and fresh bread. The guide explains how the vinegar is made while you taste it.
Wine at the old osteria
Local wines are paired with the stops, with the wine stop at the city's oldest osteria. The wine is part of the tasting, so pace yourself for the pasta course.
Two pastas at the trattoria
Further into the historic centre you sit down at a traditional trattoria for two homemade pastas, tortellini and tagliatelle, with more local wine.
Gelato and the Two Towers
The last tasting is artisanal gelato, crafted since 1976, and the tour ends at the Two Towers, so you are free to carry on through the centre.
